The 2016 Bell Tower Festival was a hot one. According to the thermometer at Home State Bank, the temperature hit 100 degrees.
KCCI’s SchoolNet 8, which uses data collected at Greene County High School, recorded a high temperature of 97 last Saturday. The high temperature was in the 90s every day of the week. The temperature dropped below 70 degrees just once.
Jefferson received welcome rainfall, although most of it came as a deluge during the dinner hour Tuesday. The Greene County farmers market got off to a good start but the vendors packed up hastily and a bit early when the storm hit. The storm knocked down a few tree limbs but did less damage in Jefferson than it did when it passed through Scranton about a half-hour earlier.
